Surgeon Johann Adam Franck

            On this first day of February one thousand eight hundred and thirty nine personally appeared before the District Court of the United States for said District Juliana Franck a resident of the Northern Liberties in the County of Philadelphia aged seventy five years who being first duly sworn according to law doth on her oath make the following declaration in order to obtain the benefit of the provision made by Act of Congress passed July 7, 1838 entitled "An act granting half pay and pensions to certain widows". That she is the widow of Dr Johann Adam Franck who was a surgeon in the Revolutionary army That the said Dr Johann Adam Franck enlisted in the New York line in which he served as surgeon as aforesaid about five years that he was at the battle of Saratoga as well as at several other actions which she cannot from defect of memory now recollect. that from an order a copy of which is subjoined hereto he appears to have at one time served under Col Klock and as deponant believes he received his discharge from General Wayne which discharge in a moment of imbecility he destroyed shortly before his death.
            She further declares that she was married to the said Johann Adam Franck on the sixth day of January in the year seventeen hundred and eighty five ( as appears by the certificate hereto annexed) that her  husband the aforesaid Johann Adam Franck died on the ninth day of September eighteen hundred and nineteen that she was not married to him prior to his leaving the service but the marriage took place previous to the first of January seventeen hundred and ninety four viz at the time above stated

            Adam Franck has served in the militia as surgeon and you will bring him in as such on your pay role.
