            On this 9th day of March A.D. one thousand eight hundred and fifty eight personally appeared before me a Justice of the Peace within and for the County and State aforesaid, Elizabeth Adams widow of John Adams Dec. [deceased], aged ninety five years a resident of the town of Sharon Schoharie County and State aforesaid who being duly sworn according to law declares that she is the Identical widow of John Adams who was a Private in the Company Commanded by Capt. Stephen White, col. Stephen L. Schuyler, Capt. John Crune, Col. Henry Luddington in the Militia Regiment of New York in the war with Great Briton declared by the United States, on the fourth day of July seventeen hundred and seventy five that her said husband was ordered in to Service [?] before the Oriscuny battle and remained in actual service in said war for the term of fourteen days and was honorably discharged.
            She further states that she was married to the said John Adams in Fort Plain by one domany Peek our family record are lost or destroyed and that her name before her said marriage was Elizabeth Vandewerken that her said husband died at Sharon Schoharie New York on the 9th March 1846 and that she is now a widow and I do hereby appoint [Hermnin?] Gallup of Schoharie NY my agent to receive my land warrant.  She makes this declaration for the purpose of obtaining the bounty land to which she may be entitled under the act approved March third 1855 and she further declares that she has not received bounty land under this or any other act of Congress.  (Signed with her mark)  Elizabeth Adams

            On this eleventh day of February one thousand Eight hundred and fifty eight personally appeared before a Justice of the Peace in and for the County and State aforesaid Peter Vandewerken aged eighty three years a resident of Sharon Schoharie County New York who being duly sworn according to law declares that he was well acquainted with John Adams deceased and Elizabeth his wife who was a private in the Revolutionary War and that he was in a certain battle at Turlock in Schoharie County new York under Col. Marinus Willet as I have been credibly informed and that they were married at Fort Plain by the Reverend domany Peek and that they have lived together and raised a family of children together and were always reputed as man and wife and that I have ever since known the  said Adams and that he died in March 1846 about the ninth.  I was at his funeral and saw him buried and that the said applicant was a sister of mine and so reputed by my parents and that I have no interest in the said claim and further saith not.  (Signed with his mark)  Peter Vandewerken
