            On this second day of May eighteen hundred and eighteen before me the subscriber, one of the Judges of the Court of Common Pleas in and for the County of Genesee in the said State of New York personally appeared Amasa Allen aged sixty five years on the seventh day of March last past, resident in the town of Covington in the said County of Genesee, who being by me first duly sworn according to law, doth, on his oath make the following declaration in order to obtain the provision made by the late act of Congress entitled “an act to provide for certain persons engaged in the land and naval service of the United States in the Revolutionary War”. That he the said Amasa Allen sometime in the month of April 1777, enlisted into the service of the United States in the company commanded by Capt. ____ Parsons in the Regiment commanded by Col. Charles B. Webb of the Connecticut line, at the town of Enfield in the State of Connecticut and that he continued in that Corps on the service of the United States until sometime in June in the year 1782 at which time he received a regular and honorable discharge from Col. V.G. VanSchaick into whose Regiment he had been transferred at the Head Quarters at or near West Point in the State of New York.  That he was at the battles of Princeton, Trenton and Monmouth and continually on duty.  That he is in reduced circumstances and stands in need of the assistance of his country for support and that he has no other evidence now in his power of his said service, except the enclosed affidavit.  (Signed) Amasa Allen

Letter dated April 15, 1929, written in reply to a request for information.
            I advise you from the papers in the Revolutionary War pension claim, S.44547, it appears that Amasa Allen was born, March 7, 1753.
            He was engaged in the battles of Trenton and Princeton, names of officers not given. While a resident of Phillipstown, New York, he enlisted in April 1777, and served three years as a private in Captain Parsons’ Company, Colonel Charles Webb’s Connecticut Regiment, was in the battle of Monmouth, transferred to Colonel Van Schaick’s New York Regiment and was discharged in June, 1782.
            He was allowed pension on his application executed May 2, 1818, while a resident of Covington, Genesee County, New York.
            He died, December 22, 1820.
            In 1820 reference was made to his children but no names stated.
