On the seventh day of April in the year one thousand eight hundred & eighteen personally appeared before me Peter DeNoyelles one of the Judges of the Court of Common Pleas in and for the said County of Rockland, Robert Allison who being duly sworn and saith that he inlisted and entered the service of the United States in the Revolutionary War in the year one thousand seven hundred and seventy six as a private soldier in Capt. Pell’s Company in the Second New York Regiment commanded by Philip VanCourtland and continued in the said Regiment until the end of the war and was discharged in the summer of 1783 and at the time he entered the service he inlisted for during the war and that shortly after he left the army he put his discharge in the hands of Joseph Rite and has not since been able to obtain it and that he is a resident of the said County of Rockland and that from his reduced circumstances he needs the assistance of his country. On this seventh day of November 1820 personally appeared in open court, the same being a court of record for the County of Rockland Robert Allison aged seventy three years, resident in the Town of Haverstraw of said County who being first duly sworn according to law, doth on his oath declare, that he served in the Revolutionary war as follows—That he enlisted in the regular army in the City of New York in the year 1776, and that he served as a private soldier in the army until the year 1783, when he was discharged and that his pension ticket is numbered 3301 and placed on the pension list on the seventh day of April 1818. And I do solemnly swear that I was a resident citizen of the United States on the 18th day of March 1818, and that I have no since that time by gift sale or in any manner disposed of my property or any part thereof with intent thereby so to diminish it as to bring myself within the provisions of an act of Congress entitled, “An act to provide for certain persons engaged in the land and naval service of the United States in the Revolutionary War” passed on the 18th day of March 1818, and that I have not nor has any person in trust for me, any property or securities, contracts or debts, due to me nor have I any income other than what is contained in the schedule hereto annexed and by me subscribed. And this deponent further saith that he is so afflicted by old age, and bodily infirmities so as to be unable to do any labour whereby to earn any part of his living. That his family consists of himself only, as his wife has seen fit to live separate and apart from him, and that he has no income but what he gets by gratuity and from the United States.
