            On this twelfth day of October in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and thirty two personally appeared in open court, before the Judges of the Court of Common Pleas in and for said County now sitting Jerone Barheydt a resident of the City of Schenectady in said County & state aged sixty eight years who being first duly sworn according to law, doth on his oath make the following declaration in order to obtain the benefit of the act of Congress passed June 7th 1832.
            He was born in the then township of Schenectady in the then County of Albany, in the then Colony now the State of New York on the twenty-eighth day of October 1764—He has no record of his age except that contained in his family Bible.—
            When he was called into the service of the United States in the army of the revolution, he was living in said township at a place called Norman’s Creek, and since the Revolutionary War he has lived in the same place and in the City of Schenectady aforesaid—and now lives in the City of Schenectady aforesaid, & has lived there for the last four years.
            He entered the service of the United States under the following named officers and served as herein stated.
            In the year 1779 he volunteered with a party of soldiers under the command of Major Abm Swits in pursuit of Tories at the Hedlerbergh. He was out in this expedition about fourteen days as nearly as he can recollect.
            In the fall of the year 1780, he was enrolled in the militia company in his beat to wit: the company commanded by Captain Thos. B. Banker in the Regiment whereof Abraham Wemple was Colonel—and he served in said Company until the spring of the year 1781 when he enlisted in captain Danuel Hale’s Company of State Troops. His other company and field officers whom he recollects were Low [?] Lieutenant—VanIngen Ensign—Dubois Commanding Officer—Under the enlistment he served at the middle fort of Schoharie for the term of four months. He was in the battle that took place at the upper fort with a party of Mohawk Indians and a tory by the name of Christen. In the fall of the previous year when the enemy under Sir John Johnson made a descent on the Mohawk Settlements he was with the troops under General Van Rensselaer.
            After his term of service in Captain Hale’s Company had expired he again entered the foresaid company of Militia and served therein without interruption until the end of the war.
            In the fall of the year 1781, he was in the battle of Johnstown, and joined the troops that went in pursuit of Walter Butler and the detachment under his command as far as West Canada Creek.
            He was often called out on alarms, some of which proved to be without foundation and when not out in these expeditions, performed his quota of duty in mounting guard at Schenectady which was surrounded with pickets and where works of defence had been erected by order of government. It is impossible for him to specify all the particular periods he served in these excursions and tours of duty while in the militia, yet knows they exceed in the whole twelve months.
            The following are the names of some of the regular officers whom he knew, or who were with the troops where he served, and such continental and militia regiments or companies with which he served, or as he can recollect, viz: Colonels VanSchaick, Gansevoort, Harper, Willett, Captain Jellis Fonda, Adjutant Jellis A. Fonda, Captain John Mynderse, & Abraham Oothout, & their companies.
            He never received any written discharge from the service.
            He has not documentary evidence, and knows of no person whose testimony he can procure who can testify, to his service, except those whose depositions accompany this declaration.—
            The following are the names of persons to whom he is known in his present neighborhood, and who can testify as to his character for veracity, and their belief of his services as a soldier of the revolution to wit: [this part is blank, however he had depositions from Jacob VanVechton, Albert A. Vedder, Gershom Wm. Dukeyd].
            He hereby relinquishes every claim whatever to a pension or annuity except the present, and declares that his name is not on the pension roll of the agency of any State. (Signed) Jerone Bardydt.

County of Schenedtady SS.
            Jerone Barhydt of the City of Schenectady in said County, being further duly sworn and examined, doth depose and say that upon a reconsideration of the services in the war of the revolution by him alleged to have been rendered in his declaration under the act of 7th June 1832, and his affidavit supplemental thereto, and exclusive of the four months, service in the State troops of this state as in said declaration & affidavit are set forth, and upon consultation with persons who performed the like services, he is not enabled to state more particularly that in addition to his volunteer service of eight days at the Helderbergh & eight days in fall of the year 1780 & four months at Schoharie in the service of the State in Captains Hale, & Dubois’s Companies as set forth in said declaration, this deponent served as follows—As a private at Fort Plain in said State under Captain Mynderse, and some other officer of the company of said Captain Mynderse and while there was engaged in the performance of garrison duty for a term exceeding fourteen days.
            As a private as aforesaid in said Company of Captain Mynderse with a detachment of Militia from Schenectady, this deponent went in pursuit of the celebrated Spy Joseph Bettis? Near Ballston Lake under command of one of the officers of said company, neither whose name nor in what year this deponent cannot recollect & served in this tour not less than ten days.
            When not out in distant expeditions from Schenectady where this deponent resided, he mounted guard at Schenectady for different terms of time & at different times during the years 1778, 1779, 1780, 1781 & 1782, for a period not less than six weeks each year, and this Deponent believes for a period in the whole exceeding two months each year, or for a period during the whole of said war exceeding twelve months but the particular periods of his service as such sentinel this Deponent cannot possibly specify, except that he is certain he served (he thinks in the year 1778) for a term exceeding six weeks at Schenectady aforesaid performing garrison duty under Jacob Clute Captain of the guard & in the year 1779 under Rykert Van Vranken Captain of the guard for the like term of six weeks—during the other years of said war this Deponent remembers that different officers of said Regiment of Colonel Abraham Wemple had the command of the Schenectady garrison he recollects in particular Captain Jellis J. Fonda, Captain Mynderse & Ensign Nicholas Barhydt—and this deponent further testifies that during the aforesaid period of more than twelve months military services, for which this deponent claims a pension, he was not engaged in any civil pursuit whatsoever. Declaration

            On this 31st day of July in the year one thousand eight hundred forty seven personally appeared before me Samuel W. Jones, County Judge of Schenectady County in the Surrogates Court of said County in open court—Cornelia Barheydt a resident of the City of Schenectada in the County of Schenectada and State of New York aged eighty years who being first duly sworn according to law doth on her oath make the following Declaration in order to obtain the benefits of the provision made by an Act of Congress passed July the 7th 1838 entitled an act granting half pay and pensions to certain widows, as [?] acts Explanatory of & Amending the same passed June 17th 1846th. That she is the widow of Jerone Barheydt late of the City of Schenectada win the state of New York who served in the war of the revolution as herein after stated. That her husband the said Jerone Barhydt resided in the District of Schenectada so called in the time of the Revolution and [???] commanded by Col. Abraham Wemple, that he served in the Regiment of Militia commanded by said Colonel & otherwise served as is particularly set forth in his papers in his application for a pension under the act of 7th June 1832 and now on file in the pension office. That the [?] under the Col. the last mentioned act first [?] and Engaged till the time of his death an annual pension of $27.10 mentioned in a pension certificate dated 22d day of May 1834 from the U.S. war office—And Declarant further saith that the said widow was married to the said Jerone Barheydt on the 4th day of January 1789 by the Reverend Dirick Romeyn who was then Pastor of the protestant Reformed Dutch Church of the then town of Schenedtada and that the marriage was solemnized and took place in the House of said Pastor on the 4th of January and the following persons were present at said marriage (to Wit) her own sister Mary Becker, Sarah Peck, & John C. Barhydt all of whom, together with the Rev’d Dirick Romeyn the said pastor have long since died that previous to the marriage she resided in said District of Schenectada and bore the maiden name of Becker. That her Husband the said Jerone Barheydt died on the 10th day of July Eighteen hundred & forty nine that since his death she remained single & unmarried and is still unmarried, and the declarant further saith that she has learnt to write and would generally sign her name but owing to an injury to her right arm and the infirmity of old age she cannot now sign her name with any distinctness.
