On this Twenty ninth day of May 1820 personally appeared in open court, in the Court of Common Pleas held at the Court House in the town of Goshen in and for the County of Orange, being a court of record, William Belknap now resident at NewBurgh & in the said County of Orange—who being first duly sworn on his oath declares that he served in the Revolutionary war as follows:--first in the regiment commanded by Colonel James Clinton for Sise [Six] Months—then three months in a regiment commanded by the same Colonel in Captain John Nicholsons Company in the New York line—then he served a year in the regiment commanded by Col. John Nicholson, Ezekiel Cooper, Captain and in the New York line:--then he entered in the year 1776 into a regiment commanded by Col. James Livingston Captain L. Wisanse Company where he served until the last day of the year 1780. That he served as a Second Lieutenant in Nocholsons & Livingston’s Regiments, the periods above mentioned. And I do solemnly swear that I was a resident citizen of the United States on the 18th day of March 1818, and that I have not since that time, by gift, sale or in any manner disposed of my property, or any part thereof, with intent there by so to diminish it as to bring myself within the provisions of the act of Congress, entitled, “An act to provide for certain persons engaged in the land and naval service of the United States in the revolutionary war” passed on the 18th day of March 1818—and that I have not nor has any person in trust for me, any property or securities contracts or debts due to me; nor have I any income—I am not in the seventieth year of my age, too infirm to attend to any business—my family consists of myself and my wife aged about fifty eight years—I have no real estate; nor any personal property except a bed, and the necessary wearing apparel of myself and wife.
