On this fifth day of February 1841, personally appeared before the subscriber a Judge of Schoharie County courts Maria Bouck, a resident of the town of Schoharie in said county and State, in the ninety third year of her age, who being first duly sworn according to law, doth on her oath make the following declaration in order to obtain the benefit of the provision made by the act of Congress, passed July 4th, 1835: That she is the widow of Johannes Bouck, commonly called John Bouck, who was a Lieutenant in the Revolutionary War, in Captain Hagers Company, in Colonel Vromans Regiment: That the annexed in his commission—that when he was appointed, there was another man by the name of John Bouck, living in the same town, older than her husband, which was the reason of the letter “W” being added by way of distinction. That soon after the commencement of the war, the said John Bouck, Senior, left the country and went to Canada as was supposed, that after that her said husband omitted the middle letter “W” in writing his name—That when he wrote his name in English he wrote it John Bouck. That he entered the service as soon as he received his commission, and was in the service from that time, at various times in each year till the year 1781—But to state with precision the number of times he was in the service in each year and the length of each tour she cannot. She thinks he was in the service sometimes over a month at a time.
She further declares that she was married to the said Johannes Bouck on the 15th day of July, seventeen hundred and seventy two. That he husband the aforesaid Johannes Bouck died on the thirty first day of December 1830 at Schoharie aforesaid, where he then resided—and that she has remained a widow ever since that period, which will more fully appear by the proof hereto annexed. Letter of inquiry dated November 29, 1933.
            Reference is made to your request for the Revolutionary War record of John Bouck.
            The data which follow were obtained from papers on file in the pension claim R. 1053, based upon the military service of John Bouck or Johannes W. Bauck.
            He was appointed on October 20, 1775, as second Lieutenant in Captain Jacob Hager’s “Second Company of Militia of Foot in the County of Albany, which company was in Colonel Peter Vrooman’s (1) New York regiment, and served at various times each year until sometime in 1781. (2)
            He married July 15, 1772, in Schoharie, Schoharie County, New York, Maria Kreusler.
            He died December 31, 1830, at Schoharie, New York.
            His widow, Maria, applied for pension February 5, 1841, at which time she was “in the ninety-third year of her age” and was living in Schoharie, New York. Her claim was not allowed as she failed to prove that the soldier rendered an aggregate service of at least six months, which was the requirement of the pension law.
            The papers in this claim contain no further date relative to the soldier, family.

Peter Vrooman commanded the 15th Regiment of Albany County Militia.
Appears that on February 20, 1778 Cornelius Feeck was commissioned Second Lieutenant in Captain Hager’s Company. There is a listing of a Lieutenant Johannes Bouck as serving in Captain Christian Stubrach’s Company in Colonel Vrooman’s Regiment.
