            In conformity with the provisions of the Act of the Congress of the United States of America, passed March 18th, 1818, entitled “An Act to provide for certain persons engaged in the Land and Naval Service of the United “States in the Revolutionary War,” the following DECLARATION, in writing, is made under oath, by Adam Coons-------, of the City of Albany, in the county of Albany in the state of New York before the Honorable Philip [?] Parker Esquire, one of the Judges of the Mayors Court of the City of Albany in the said state, which Court is a Court of Record of the County and State, in which the said Adam Coons doth reside, that is to say:
DECLARATION.
            I Adam Coons------of the City of Albany in the county of Albany in the state of New York on this fourth day of April in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and eighteen, -- Do solemnly, sincerely and truly swear and declare, that I served against the common enemy in the Army, in the War of the Revolution, about five years and six months—and that I am a resident Citizen of the United States, to wit, in the City County and State aforesaid; and that by reason of my reduced circumstances in life, I am in need of assistance from my country for support---I do further swear and declare, that I served in the said Revolutionary War, in the capacity of, and being a Corporal that I belonged to the Army, to wit, I belonged to Captain Benjamin Hicks (1) Company first New York Regiment and New York Line—That I entered the said service the month ------of November in the year of our Lord one thousand seven hundred and Seventy Seven and left it the Month of June—in the year of our Lord one thousand seven hundred and Eighty three, in the manner following, to wit: I left it by reason of being honorably discharged after the peace---that I received one document concerning the same service and discharge, which has been casually lost or destroyed----and that there is no other evidence in my power to my knowledge, concerning the matters deposed by me than John H. Wendell who has made a deposition accompanying this Declaration—And I further declare, that in pursuance of the requisitions of the aforesaid Act of Congress, I do hereby freely and absolutely, and to all intents and purposes, relinquish all claims to any Pension under any of the Laws of the United States, except the Pension contemplated to be allowed me under the Act of Congress aforesaid mentioned, and under which this Declaration is made.
            In Witness of the truth of this Declaration, I have subscribed the same in presence of the said Judge, and have solemnly deposed to the truth, thereof, on the day herein before, for that purpose, specified.  (Signed) Adam Coons
            Sworn before me this Fourth day of April 1818.  Philip [?] Parker, Recorder and Judge of the Mayors Court of the City of Albany.

            At a court of Common Pleas held in & for the County of Albany the said Court being a Court of record according to the adjudication of the Supreme Court of the State of New York being a court which proceeds according to the Court of the Common Law with & of Jurisdiction unlimited in point of amount keeping a record of its proceedings.

            On this fifteenth day of June 1820 p(2) ersonally appeared in open court, being a private court of record for the said County of Albany Adam Coon, late a member of the army of the Revolution aged Sixty Seven years, resident in Albany in said state aforesaid, who being first duly sworn according to law, doth, on his oath, declare that he served in the Revolutionary war as follows: That he enlisted in November 1777, and Served in Capt. Finks & Hicks Companies of the first New York Regiment of Infantry, until June 1783.  (3) And that he has Received a pension Certificate dated the Sixteenth day of November 1818, and has drawn his pension up to the 4th of March 1820—
            And I solemnly Swear that I was a resident citizen of the United States on the 18th day of March, 1818; and that I have not since that time, by gift, sale, or in any manner, disposed of any property, or any part thereof, with intent thereby so to diminish it, as to bring myself, within the provisions of an act of Congress, entitled “An act to provide for certain persons engaged in the land and naval service of the United States, in the Revolutionary war,” passed on the 18th day of March 1818; and that I have not, nor has any person in trust of me, any property or securities, contracts, or debts, due to me; nor have I any income other than what is contained in the schedule hereto annexed, and by me subscribed.  I have no property except my necessary Clothing, and am by profession a Miller but by reason of a Hernia have been unable to follow my occupation for the last three years, and now am in such indigent circumstances as to be unable to support my self without the assistance of my Country except by private or publick charity.  I have no Family nor have not had for the last thirteen years.  (Signed) Adam Coons
