Pension Application for James Ferguson

            On this 5th day of November 1850 before me the Subscriber a Justice of the Peace in and for said County personally appeared Ezra White, who being by me duly sworn according to law, deposes and says that his is the Administrator of Betsey Ferguson, widow of James Ferguson, who was a Revolutionary Pensioner of the United States , that at the time of her death she was on the roll of the Albany agency at the rate of $80 per annum that she died on or about the 1st day of April 1849  --- --- --- leaving the following surviving children viz: Olive Jinks, and Polly Cole.
            The object of this declaration is to assert a claim to an increase of pension to which it is believed that the said Betsey Ferguson was entitled at the time of her death.  Ezra White

            James Ferguson of the Town of Laurens in the County of Otsego and State of New York and 58 years being duly sworn says that the month of Feb. in the year 1777 he enlisted into Capt. Robert McKean’s Company in Col. VanSchaick’s Regiment of N. York Troops for the term of Three years.  That he continued to service in said Regiment until the said term of three years expired and was regularly discharged at Fort Stanwick in the month of Feb. in the year 1;780 out of Charlie Parsons Company & out of the Regiment aforesaid.
            And he further says that he is in reduced circumstances and needs the assistance of his country and further he saith not. (Signed) James Ferguson.
            Sworn & Subscribed October 10th day 1818 before me James S. Campbell one of the Judges of Otsego County at New York.

            The depositions are nearly impossible to read, the writing on the other side of the paper bled through.
