            One thousand eight hundred and thirty eight on this twenty fifth day of September personally appeared before the undersigned (one of the Judges of the county of Ulster) Elizabeth Lane a resident of the Town of New Paltz in the County of Ulster and State of New York aged seventy nine years who being first duly sworn according to law doth on her oath make the following declaration in order to obtain the benefit of the provision made by the act of Congress, passed July 4th 1836 and the act explanatory of said act passed March 3d 1837 that she was married to Jonathan Johnson who was a private soldier under Colonel Pauldwin or Pawlin in the year seventeen hundred and Seventy nine five months as a volunteer on the frontiers in the Counties of Green & Schoharrie in the State of New York the name of the Captain not recollected also he served eight months in the year seventeen hundred & eighty under Albert Pawlin Colonel & John Tiercey Captain which term of service was performed at Napanak Ulster County State of New York in both terms of service he entered & served as a volunteer and was a resident of the Town of New Paltz & County of Ulster and further the said Elizabeth has no documentary evidence of the services of her husband.  She further declares that she was married to the said Jonathan Johnson in December one thousand seven hundred and seventy nine that her husband the aforesaid Jonathan Johnson died on the ninth day of January one thousand seven hundred and ninety two and that she had by her said husband six children names as follows John Johnson Jr.,  Mercy Johnson, Andrew Johnson, Peter Johnson, Nicholas Johnson, Jonathan Johnson and that she was married in May one thousand seven hundred & ninety five to William Lane (who was a pensioned on the United States pension rolls) and the said William Lane died in November 24th 1832 and she is now and was a widow on the fourth day of July 1836 and still remains a widow as will more fully appear by reference to the proof hereunto annexed.  (Signed with her mark)  Elizabeth Lane
