            On this twenty-seventh day of August 1832, personally appeared in open court before the Judges of the County Court now sitting Ebenezer French a resident of the Town of Bloomfield County and State aforesaid aged seventy two years who being duly sworn according to law doth on his oath make the following declaration in order to obtain the benefit of the Act of Congress passed June 7, 1832.
            That he entered the service of the United States under the following named officers and served as herein stated.
1st        At the Town of Killingworth State of Connecticut was drafted for one month in Captain Samuel Gales Company in Colonel Worthington’s Regiment in October 1777 was marched to Fish Kill and then to Red Hook under General Putnam and was a guard near him and knew him well, went back to Fish Kill and when his time expired he was discharged at Fishkill and went home.
2nd       At the same place in the month of October 1778 was drafted in Captain Gilbert Dudley’s Company for one month and was marched to Roger’s Neck near New London and served at the time at that place keeping guard, there was no other company there and we were doing duty at this place.
3rd       About the 1st November 1779 at the same place was drafted for two months in Captain Kelsey’s Company Major Commandant Smith and marched to New Haven and then to Stratford and after a short time was ordered back to New Haven and there done duty until he time expired and then went home to Killingsworth.
4th        In June 1780 his father moved to Alford in Massachusetts and he this declarant enlisted in July 1780 at Alford in Captain Warner’s (1) Company in Colonel Brown’s (2) Regiment and was marched to Claverack and thence to Albany then to Fort Plain on the Mohawk then to Herkimer then to Fort Stanwix and served in this campaign three months and was discharged at Fort Plank near Fort Plain and went home having served three months Colonel Dubois was there.
5th        At Alford as aforesaid in July 1781 he enlisted again in Captain Jeremiah (3) Heacoxe? Company and was ordered to Fort Plain and was under the Command of Colonel Willett (4) and served at Fort Plain and Herkimer and other places on this station but most part of the time at Fort Plain and served three months, and after my time was out he joined Captain Skinner’s (5) Company at the same place and served one month and after this was discharged and went home to Alford.
6th        Besides the foregoing he was called out on short tours of duty and was out at Derby in April 1777, then to New Haven, and when the British landed at New Haven was called out and when he got to East Haven the British returned to their ships.  The British cut down the Beacon at East Haven at this time.  He believes he served in three short tours in all half a month and he served his country in all during the War of the Revolution thirteen months and a half.  Has no documentary evidence.  Christopher Parks, Marvin Gates, knows of his service.  Was born in Guilford Connecticut 11th October 1760 at the age of 9 years moved to Killingsworth then to Alford and from Alford to Bloomfield in the year 1798 and has lived there until now.
            He hereby relinquishes every claim whatever to a pension or annuity except the present and declared his name is not on the pension roll of the agency of any other state.

  4. The Massachusetts Levies marched to the Mohawk River under Major Aaron Rowley from Porter’s Regiment.  Colonel Marinus Willet was the overall commander of the troops in the Mohawk Valley at this time.
  5. French’s name does not appear on the payroll for Captain Thomas Skinner’s Company in Colonel Willett’s Regiment.
