I John C. Wallace Clerk of the Court of Oyer & Terminer in and for said County do hereby certify that satisfactory evidence has been adduced in open court holden at Goshen this eighteenth day of September 1846, that Ezra Sandford, died on the 22nd day of April 1822, that he left him surviving his wife Ann Sandford, that the said Ann Sandford his widow died on the 15th day of December 1841, having remained his widow up to the time of her decease. That she left her surviving at here decease the following children, viz. Patience Smith, Olive Morehouse, Ezra Sandford, Matthew Sandford, Hester Bacon, Dorcus Hall, Mary Thomas, and that the said Ezra Sandford was reputed to be a soldier in the War of the Revolution, during his life time and at the time of his decease. And that the said Ezra Sandford and Anna Sandford his wife lived together as man & wife in the last seventy years.
In testimony whereof, I have hereto subscribed my name and affixed the seal of the said county at Goshen this 18th day of September 1846. john C. Wallace, Clerk

On this sixteenth day of September one thousand eight hundred and forty six personally appeared in open court before the Circuit Court held in & for the County of Orange now sitting at the Court House in Goshen in said County, Ezra Sandford, a resident of the town of Warwick, County of Orange & State of New York, aged fifty one years, who being first duly sworn according to law, doth, on his oath, make the following declaration in order to obtain the benefit of the provision made by the act of Congress passed July the fourth in the year one thousand eight hundred & thirty six; that he is the son of Ezra Sandford deceased and Ann Sandford, his wife, deceased; that the said Ezra Sandford deceased was a Corporal in the Militia service of the United States in the Revolutionary War. That he has heard the said Ezra Sandford deceased, in his lifetime, frequently say, that he was in the service of the United States more or less during the whole term of the Revolutionary War; that he has heard him, the said Ezra Sandford, deceased, state that he did service at Fort Montgomery & was cook for the mess there; that he was in the service at Tappan and Fishkill and at Ramapo in the State of New York and at different places besides these along the Hudson River; that he was in the regiment commanded by Colonel Hathorn, and served under Captain Wisner, Captain Peter Berthoff, and Captain Blain, respectively; that he also served under Captain Vance and Lieutenant Ketchum. He further declares that as he was informed by his said father & mother they were married to each other in or about the year one thousand seven hundred and seventy two as he, the said Ezra Sandford, thinks by Elder Benedict now deceased, late of the said town of Warwick. That the oldest child of the said Ezra and Anna Sandford deceased, was born on the ninth of November one thousand seven hundred and seventy three; that the said Ezra Sandford deceased, died on the twenty second day of April one thousand eight hundred and twenty two, leaving the said Anna Sandford deceased his widow, him surviving; that the said Anna Sandford died on the fifteenth day of December one thousand eight hundred and forty one, having remained a widow from the death of the said Ezra Sandford deceased to her own decease; that the said Ann Sandford left surviving at her decease the following children of herself and the said Ezra Sandford deceased, viz, Patience, the widow of Daniel Smith, Olive, the widow of Daniel Morehouse, Matthew Sandford, Hester, the wife of William D. Bacon, Ezra Sandford, Dorcas, the wife of John Hall & Mary the wife of John Thomas; that the foregoing are all the children of said Ezra and Anna Sandford, deceased, who survived the said Ann; and that they are all now living according to the best of this declarants information and belief; that the maiden name of the said Ann Sandford was Ann Hopper; that the said Patience & Olive reside in the State of Michigan or did reside there according to the last information of the declarant, that the said Hester, according to the last information of the declarant, resided in the State of Indianna [sic]; that the said Dorcas resides in Yates County in the State of New York; that the said Mary E. and Ezra, this declarant, reside in the town of Warwick in the County of Orange and State of New York; and that the said Matthew resides in the State of New Jersey; that the said declarant is not able to state the residence of the said children more particularly; than hereinbefore contained; that the said Ann Sandford resided with this declarant for ten years next preceding her death; that up to the time of her death this declarant was ignorant of the passage of the act under which this application is made, and that the said Ann Sandford was ignorant of the existence of the said act up to the time of her decease according to the best of this declarant’s knowledge & belief, or she would have applied for th4e benefit of it provisions in her lifetime--: And this declarant further declares that he has no documentary evidence of the marriage of the said Ezra and Ann Sandford deceased; that he has no documentary evidence of the services performed by the said Ezra Sandford, deceased, during the said revolutionary war; and that this declarant relies upon the records in the pension department at Washington and such other evidence as he may be able to procure. Letter dated June 15, 1931 written in reply to a request for information.
            You are advised that it appears from the a papers in the Revolutionary War pension claim, R.9192, that Ezra Sanford married about 1772 Ann Hopper. They were married by Elder Benedict, of Warwick, New York.
            Ezra Sanford died April 22, 1822, and his widow, Ann, died December 15, 1841, leaving the following children:
            Patience, widow of Daniel Smith, of Michigan;
            Olive, widow of Daniel Morehouse, of Michigan;
            Hester, wife of Willaim D.bacon, of Indiana;
            Dorcas, wife of John Hall, of Yates County, New York;
            Mary, wife of John Thomas, of Warwick, New York;
            Matthew Sanford, of New Jersey;
            Ezra Sanford, or Warwick, New York.
            Ezra Sanford applied for pension, September 16, 1846, then a resident of Warwick, New York, aged fifty-one years, and alleged that his father, Ezra Sanford, served during the War of the Revolution as a corporal at Fort Montgomery, Fort Tappan, Fishkill, and Ramapo under Captains Wisner, Peter Bertholf, Blain, and Vance in Colonel Hathorne’s New York regiment. He gave no dates of service.
            The claim was not allowed as he failed to furnish proof of service.
            It was stated that the oldest child of Ezra and Ann Sanford was born November 9, 1773, and in 1846 was referred to as deceased.
