Honorable J. Mitchell Chase,
House of Representatives, Washington, D.C.

My dear Mr. Chase;

            In response to your letter of May 6, 1928, with one, herewith returned, from Amanada L. Schwem of 116 Fairview Avenue, Dubois, Pennsylvania, I have the honor to advise you that from the records of this bureau it appears that Warrant no. 1985 for four hundred acres of bounty land was issued August 23, 1790 on account of the service of Caleb Sweet, Surgeon in the New York Line, (1) War of the Revolution.

            There are no further data on file relative to this service and none whatever in regard to his family, due to the destruction of papers in such claims when the War Office was burned in November 1800.

            Very truly yours, E. W. Morgan, Acting Commissioner.

End Note

1. Appointed Surgeon's Mate, May 1, 1777 in the First New York Continental Regiment under Colonel Goose VanSchaick. Appointed Surgeon of the same regiment on October 13, 1779.
