            Declaration, in order to obtain the benefit of the Act of Congress passed June 7, 1832.
State of New York
County of Otsego, SS.
            On this 16th day of October 1832 personally appeared in Open Court before the Judges of the Court of common Pleas in and for the County of Otsego in the State of New York now sitting Harmanus Vedder a resident of the town of Springfield in the County of Otsego and State of New York aged seventy one years, who being first duly sworn according to law doth on his oath make the following declaration in order to obtain the benefit of the act of Congress passed June 7th 1832.
            That he entered the service of the United States under the following named officers and served as herein stated.  That he was born in the town of Niskauna now Schenectady then Albany County that he resided there in the time of the Revolutionary war.  That in or about the year 1776 he was classed in Captain Manning Fisher’s Company in Colonel James VanSchoonhoven’s Regiment of New York Militia and continued in that situation till the close of the war.  And that during the said war he was called out sometimes in turn and some times on alarms for terms of from five days to one month at a time and at those turns of service of which he remembers in particular he was out once to Canajoharie, Palmerstown and Ballstown three times to Saratoga once to Lake George under the command of Governor Clinton and near to Oswego
            That he cannot answer to the particular dates or the exact length of time that he served at each of the above named places but he does positively know that it all does exceed nine months and he does verily believe that the above enumerated service and other services which he did during the said war being called out on alarms frequently one, two, three, four, and five days at a time would amount to not less twelve months he was not in any battle he knew Colonel Gansevoort, General Scuyler [Schuyler], Colonel V. Courtland, Colonel Van Dyke, Col. Van Schaick, Major Grames.
            That he never had a written discharge that he has no documentary evidence and that he knows of no person who can testify to his service whose testimony he can procure except Claus V. VanVranken, whose affidavits are hereunto annexed.
            He hereby relinquishes every claim whatever to a pension or annuity except the present and declares that his name is not on the Pension Roll of the agency of any State.
