            On this 25th day of September A.D. 1832 personally appeared in open Court, before the Court of Common Pleas in and for the County of Cayuga and state of New York, now sitting, Samuel Wisner, a resident of Springport in the County of Cayuga and State of New York, aged sixty nine years, who being first duly sworn, according to law, doth on his oath, make the following declaration, in order to obtain the benefit of the act of Congress, passed June 7th 1832—That he entered the service under the following named officer, and served as herein stated—That in the Spring of the year 1778, then a resident of the town of Warwick in the County of Orange he entered the service of the United States as a volunteer under the command of Lieutenant Thomas Blane—that he continued in said service at West Point in the State of New York for a term of one month—He further declares that about the 14th of June 1779 he again entered the service of the United States in the company of Militia Commanded by Captain David McAmbler [McCambly] in Col. John Heathboms [Hathorn] (1) Regiment.  That he marched with said company to Stony Point in the State of New York, and was stationed near that place when the same it was taken by the American troops under the command of Gen. Anthony Wayne (2), that from thence after the taking of said plan he marched with Prisners under the command of Maj. Clark to Lancaster in the state of Pennsylvania, that his term of service at this time was one month or more—He further declares that afterwards in the same year he was detached at the town of Warwick in the County of Orange aforesaid to march to the west in pursuit of the Indians that he marched in the company commanded by Captain McAmbler to Minisink on the Delaware river where he continued for a term of one month when he returned to Warwick aforesaid—He further declares that soon after his return he removed to the town of Little Egg Harbour in the County of Burlington in the State of New Jersey—that about the first of September A.D. 1780 whilst residing at the place last aforesaid he was drafted, and served as first sergeant in the Company of six months rangers commanded by Captain Joseph Anderson in  Colonel Flemings Regiment—that the said company encamped during said term at Colts Neck in the County of Monmouth in the State of New Jersey and continued to Range the surrounding country, that he continued to serve in said company during said term of six months; that during said time he was in the battle of Shrewsbury.  That he received a discharge from said service but has lost the same.
            He hereby relinquishes every claim to an annuity a pension except the present and declares that his name is not on the pension list of any State or Territory.  (Signed) Samuel Wisner

  1. Captain David McCambly in Colonel John Hathorn’s Regiment of Orange County Militia.  The other company officers were: First Lieutenant Benjamin Cooley, Second Lieutenant Thomas Blain and Ensign David Wisner.  He also had served under Captain John Minthorn in Col. Hathorn’s Regt.
  2. General Anthony Wayne attacked and captured Stony Point NY on the 16 July 1779.  He was also wounded in this battle.
